Mankell was innate around Stockholm, and grew higher in the Swedish towns of Sveg (Jämtland) and Borås (Västergötland). He is married to Eva Bergman, the girl of Ingmar Bergman.

Kurt Wallander series
Kurt Wallander is a fictional police inspector living and working around Ystad, Sweden. In the novels, he solves shocking murders by having his colleagues. A novels keep close at hand an underlying wonder: What went wrong by using a Swedish society? A final book, The Pyramid (short stories) (not yet translated into English), is a collection of short stories about Wallander's past.
